This is one of the most ingenius ideas I have ever come across. Don't you hate getting voice mail? Every message you get will no doubt cause you to do real work. Someone will want you to call them back, e-mail them a document or some other task that you really don't want to do. How can you effectively avoid getting voice mail while at the same time giving the impression you are one busy monkey? Fill up your voice mail box.
Most organizations have voice mail systems that only allow emplyees to store between 10-20 active message before the "mailbox is full". Let's assume your office allows for 15 active messages. To fill your mailbox, go to another phone in your office and call yourself 12 times. Leave yourself a message. Perhaps leave positive reinforcement messages such as, "You look great today." or "Your the smartest gal in the office." or even, "Your God's gift to balance sheets."
This will ensure that while your off printing documents or going to the bathroom you'll have no more than three voice mail messages to respond to.
Dangers
Though this is a great idea, it does have its flaws. Some voice mail systems allow for up to 100 active message. Why anyone would want to be so "important" as to have 100 active voice mails is beyond me, but I digress. Also, other employees may get frustrated or angered if they continually get a "mailbox is full" response.
If you use this or any other faking work idea on this site, you assume all the risks. There is a chance you can get caught and get fired. I am not responsible if you get fired. These ideas are for entertainment purposes only.
